Journey under the midnight sun

Author: Keigo Higashino
Genre: Fiction

A pawnshop owner is found murdered in an abandoned building. The primary suspects die - one in an accident and another in an attempted suicide. As the trail goes cold detective Sasagaki is sure that something obvious is missing. He tracks the various characters over a span of two decades and unravels the story that all began with a simple murder.

The narration skips years without ever explicitly mentioning so and sometimes its only towards the end of a few paragraphs that I would realize the passing of time. I found that style interesting.

And the story is good too. Not at par with Devotion of Suspect X but definitely better than many other fiction titles.

The girl on the train

Writer: Paula Hawkins
Genre: Fiction/Thriller

Rachel travels by train and watched Jess and Jason everyday. She builds up an imaginary tale about the couple she watches everyday but what happens when she becomes a part of their real life?

The climax is worth the read and I liked the way the writer has woven the whole story. Definitely recommended!

Chasing Tomorrow

Writer:Tilly Bagshawe
Genre: Fiction

Extending the famous 'If tomorrow comes' storyline after Tracy and Jeff get married. Picked it up because i am a Tracy Whitney loyal. But the sequel doesn't really have a USP. It's just another fiction book.

7 Secrets Of Shiva

Writer: Devdutt_Pattanaik
Fiction: Mythology

I have my own reasons to pick up the book so wont review this one like a typical book :)

The Snowman

Writer: Joe Nesbo
Genre: Fiction/ Thriller

A good one time read for fiction lovers. The story builds up well and the chases are well written. But as the story climaxes I found the book a little melodramatic.

Freedom at Midnight

Writers: Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre
Genre: Non Fiction

A huge book but an amazing one at that. One cant help but applaud the writers on their research. Its a pity I finished it and didn't update my blog immediately :(

Jaya

Writer: Devdut Patnaik
Genre: Fiction/Mythology

Its Mahabharata revisited. Some great gems from the book will be updated soon.

The Book Thief

Writer: Markus Zusak
Genre: Fiction

The USP for the book - I loved the narrator.

Lazy me.....

Caught up in a whirlwind. The next few posts would be simply stating the books read, for they have already been read and the notes which constitute this blog are lost or not made up for lack of time.

Apologies to non existing followers but mostly to myself for being caught up with wrong things :D
